ST. HELENA, Calif. October 12, 2009 – The Wine Country Inn, a 30-room Napa Valley country inn, will host its second annual Ode to the Olive celebration November 19-22, 2009, Inn officials announced today.
Jim Smith, the Inn’s innkeeper, said that the Ode to the Olive event will help Napa Valley visitors learn about and enjoy another important—and beneficial—food product besides wine. “Obviously the Napa Valley is well known for its world-class wine,” Smith said. “With this fun event, we hope to introduce folks to the olives and olive oils which also are produced here by many small, artisan producers.”
The Ode to the Olive event will include a series of food and olive oil tastings, tours to nearby Napa Valley olive oil producers, and a special olive-themed dinner at the Inn. The event will culminate Saturday, November 21, with a special olive oil “taste-off”, in which Smith and two other celebrity judges will blind-taste and then rate several Napa Valley olive oils.
